Vellum Projects will curate a booth in the special Project section of the LA Art Show in January featuring Diana Wege’s Reject Violence prints.
Diana Wege’s Reject Violence prints are part of a goal to end violence in our lifetime. After reading “The Stickup Kids” by Randol Contreras, Wege wanted to be part of the solution to this epidemic and created a series of lithographs with anti-violence slogans on them in the style of street advertising. Every September during International Peace Month, Wege has placed her anti-violence prints in select bus and telephone kiosks throughout New York City. The multi-colored lithographs designed in bold block letters with words “Reject”, “Oppose” “Forgive”, ultimately beholds the power of subliminal advertising in order to confront a more provocative message.
Diana Wege is an environmental conceptual artist whose practice focuses on the part our negligence plays in the destruction of the environment and how it can be corrected with education and awareness. She is the founder of WOVEN, an international peace organization dedicated to non-violent conflict resolution, and coalition-building.
Vellum Projects is based in Brooklyn, New York. Our mission is to expand on the magazine’s editorial vision and present shows which are thought-provoking and socially conscious.
